Subject: Fighting 311 "Hells Belles"

When I was a young boy, my uncle, gave me a squadron patch and some other WWII memoribilia. He had served in the US Marine Corp in the Pacific Theater. From some of his letters that my mother saved, he had some ties to this squadron although he was not a airman or crew as far as I know...he fought on the ground. He would never talk much about his service to anyone. Must have been ugly during the island hopping. Long story short. Any info on the 311 Hells Belles? Patch is blue with what looks like a corsair with a dragon head and a nude redhead, shield & sword drawn, riding the plane. Info would be greatly appreciated. - Thanks - James Sims
