Mark,

Saw you posting. The 155th Night Photo Reconnaissance Squadron deployed to England as the 423rd Night Fighter Squadron. It is my understanding that they had an "unofficial" patch that was worn, and that an "official" patch was later introduced. There were some in the squadron who favored the unofficial patch and did not wear the official one as it's design originated outside the squadron. The USAF Museum Library in Dayton, Ohio had a color version of the patch a number of years ago. That was probably the patch of the 423rd NFS. The 45th Reconnaissance Squadron in Nebraska is the lineal decendant of the 423rd/155th and may have a color version of the patch among it's historical records. The 155th NPRS held a reunion in the early 1990's at Bergstrom AFB in Austin Texas where they were hosted by the 45th Tactical Reconnaissance Training Squadron. A large size (18-24 inch) color version of the patch was presented by the surviving members of the 423rd/155th to the then commanding officer of the 45th in appreciation for their help in hosting the first reunion of the squadron since the end of WWII. Hope this helps some. Contact me if you have additional questions.
