Subject: information on colors used on VBF-88 USS Yorktown, CV10, 1945, formed Dec. 1944.

I'm interested in learning the colors used in the design of the squadron insignia for VBF-88, Bombing Fighting Squadron, U. S. N., formed in December 1944, and posted aboard the U.S.S. Yorktown CV10, in 1945, as a unit of Air Group 88. The insignia consisted of a cowboy wearing a large Stetson hat, a huge handlebar moustache, bandanna around the neck, six-gun in the left hand, and a poker hand in the right (Full House, Aces over Eights). My Aunt's younger brother was a member of this squadron until his F4U Corsair was shot down by Japanese anti-aircraft fire July 15, 1945, and he was reported MIA. Thanks for any info you may be able to dig up. JRC
