of the world.

I don't shield dd from the horrors of 9/11, or the war, or any of the other real world stuff that goes on. We don't make it a daily part of our lives, but we don't go out of our way to avoid it either.

At 6.5, she is old enough to learn that not all people are nice and good. She is old enough to know that bad things happen to good people. She is old enough to know that people sometimes get hurt, sometimes die, etc.

I don't want to put her in a *safe haven* that is some fake, madeup world that I created. I don't think that is any healthier than inundating a child with the *horrors* of the world. What I think is healthy is a knowledge of the horrors, a knowledge of the real-world, without an emphasis on it.
