you have a 10 year, who if kept out of society say for just the 20 years alone...he will be 30+ by the time he gets out (given trail time, etc...). Basically at that point, I think he would be classified as "hardened" by the system and jail in general.

Not only would he have limited life experiance (approx. 10 years worth...and that is childhood life)...he would have 20 years of life living in jail, which imo...would be the biggest downfall. You can't each a person how to behave on the outside if they only have the inside role models (can't be all that good of role-models in jail...they are in jail--aren't they?)

Maybe they should make half-way houses for these type of crimes so a child-then turned adult can actually learn about the outside world with supervision? Maybe they already have that?
