This isn't really directed at Butterfly so much as everyone involved in the Canon/Non-Canon debate. I think we are being a bit premature passing judgement before we see the final outcome.
I loved the Mohiam/Baron storyline. But, I also agree with Butterfly's opinion about the way the Tleilaxu are portrayed in the prequels (among other things). Personally, I still believe that for now I can safely consider these books "canon." But I also think it doesn't really matter. And here's why.
No one knows what is going to happen in Dune 7. Only Brian and Kevin know that. So whatever they write in these prequels will probably be consistant with what happens in the concluding novel. (If they are not, I think I won't be the only really pissed off Dune fan out there.) Also, the story of the BG's, Spacing Guild, Tleilaxu, etc. has only barely begun in Butlerian Jihad. Give them some time to develop the story! For example, maybe the Tleilaxu will develop a reason to hide their religious views and withdraw from "powindah" society, before the BGs even form.
In the meantime, discussion about the prequel books is harmless. But please spare me the debate about Canon or Non-Canon. Everyone will decide for themselves anyway.
