In Dune or COD, Leto or Paul state that the worms came from elsewhere that they were transported to Dune. I think FH left that intentionally vague (artistic liscence) but hinted for future transplant. I don't think that the Zensunni wanderers brought the worms. Leto II + worms = Pearl of Leto. New worm-> improved sandtrout+ pool 'o spice = transplant on other planets (See HoD towards end, Teg's vision/mentat projection.

Believing in God: Leto II in CoD places himself into trance in a stilltent before a big storm "Sometimes one has to submit to a higher order."
