This is something that has always kind of bothered me! When Jessica takes the water of life she gets the memories of the Sayyadina, but I don't remember Frank ever saying that she got her OWN ancestral memories. I thought that was a special circumstance of being preborn (and Atreides). Therefore, Alia obtained the memories of the Sayyadina from the ritual, but also got her ancestral memories as well, which Jessica did not get. Even later in HOD and CD the BGs "share" but I don't think they have a ritual where they obtain their own ancestral memories. If they did have the memories of their ancestors, I believe it was only due to the fact that they obtained these memories from the "sharing" with others who shared a common ancestor and not from a water-of-life type of ritual.
To summarize: only Atreides pre-born get their own ancestral memories, regular Bg's can only share memories.
Anyone care to prove me wrong?
