I believe Bijaz was a Tleilaxu agent, so he knew all about Chani's spice diet, to counteract the contraceptive he knew Irulan had given Chani. Therefore he knew she may not survive the pregnancy. Infact Bijaz even says while hypnotizing Duncan, "It is a trade the Tleilaxu offer your prescious Paul Atreides. Our masters will restore his beloved. A sister for yourself - another ghola." It is also known that the guild navigators were involved in this conspiracy to dampen Pauls vision of it. Perhaps the navigator saw the words 'She is dead' and provided them for Bijaz.
