Subject: Interesting research and the test of the gom jabbar

Well I stumbled across this info and of course I immediately thought of Dune and Paul's test. So I wanted to share it with you all. It involves an experiment in which a grill is made with the bars of the grill at alternating temperatures, hot and cold. Although the heat is not enought to injure you, when you place your hand upon it, you guessed it, you feel a sensation of being burned to the point of injury. You can hold your hand on it for minutes at a time and be in excruciating pain, but no damage is actually happening! Kind of cool, huh? Google up "thermal grill" for more info.
I wonder if Frank knew about this kind of effect when he wrote Dune.
