I am currently reading the first of the Legends of Dune trilogy, The Butlerian Jihad. There is one event in the first few hundred pages which caused my mouth to drop to the floor. I don't want to say what it is, because I recall Cannabist mentioning that he is holding off on reading the new trilogy until they all come out. I don't want to ruin it completely. When I read this part of the book, I had a sudden flashback to Heretics and Chapterhouse. Specifically the parts that discussed how even the Honored Matres were fleeing from some unknown, unseen, terrifying enemy. I think I have a good idea about what this enemy might be, and I'm sure there must be someone else out there who thinks the same thing.
I know it is worthless for me to mention this without saying what I think it is. I don't want to ruin it for anyone, but I am just so anxiously awaiting the answer in Dune 7 that I can't be silent about it.
I think maybe I should go take a cold shower before I get too worked up about this.
