In a stunning show of faith, the VVS Laxatives have extended the contract of their coach Floodney Spew for an extra 6 weeks. The Laxatives only ever sign coaches until round 2 of the season but this will keep Spew at the club until at least round 8. The unprecedented action was in response to Spew's successful first season as coach lifting the Laxatives off the bottom of the ladder and taking them into the second week of the finals. Spew was more focussed on the upcoming RFL season, than the details of his contract denying that the Laxatives were this years glamour team "Anyone just needs to have a look at the dunnies after one of our curry nights to see there's not much glamour around here". It has been rumoured that Spew has demanded that toilet cleaning duties were written into his contract to ensure he has work should the axe fall mid season.

The Laxatives have retained Nigel Lappin to captain the team for the 3rd year running. "I'm excited about leading the side out again, particularly now that hacks like Brogan and Lade have been dumped, we can only get better".
