Subject: Party Animals through to Grand final, Wolves live to fight on

The Party Animals flexed their muscles in a dominating display against the injury weakened, but nevertheless insipid Darkness Eternal. The most impressive aspect of the Animals win was the evenness across the whole ground, every member of the team contributing between 21 and 33 points. Darkness Eternal are still missing this years Rantlow medallist Michael Gardiner, and lost Jason Johnson before the game, but were a long way off the pace set by the rampaging Groovers. Minimal contributions from Richardson, McKee, Longmuir and Goodwin left them with no chance to pressure the opposition, who move into their second successive grand final and will be looking to atone for last years shock loss.

Darkness Eternal will take on the University Wolves in the preliminary final next weekend, after the Wolves accounted for Club X in the first semi final. A well functioning forward line won the day for the Wolves, with solid contributions from the entire team, tackler Anthony Stevens excepted, although his normally consistent opponent Troy Cook was also strangely subdued. Coach Kang will have to scrutinize his list carefully for a replacement tackler, given the likely trouble Stevens will find himself in after a clash with Club X forward Nick Holland. The Nudies were again led well by Phil Matera and their consistent on ball brigade, but a lack of goal kicking depth has proved costly in the final analysis, and they will be looking to improve their stocks in the preseason trading period.

*****Note, due to the wonderful people at AFL.com.au, final statistics cannot be given as yet, as the Swans - Lions game stats are not updated. But the above results will stand unless Simon Black gathered 48 more possessions than Daryn Cresswell did.
