It has come to our attention that the media covering the RFL tipped Club X against the Animals in this weekend’s match. By any logical analysis, this is very hard to justify and closer scrutiny shows that the RFL commissioner is making unfounded statements against the Party Animals, and refuses to acknowledge the facts.

For instance, the article questions the depth of the Animals squad compared to Club X, where any knowledgeable person could see that the Animals have the best depth in the competition. No other team can boast the recruitment of stars such as Brendan Fevola, on top of a list that was dominant for all of last year, except for the last game. We have been missing one of our gun forwards in Warren Tredrea for most of the year, and suffered untimely injuries and ridiculous suspensions to our ruckman, but remain unbeaten. This fact seems to have escaped the media, and the amazing conclusion of ranking Beau McDonald alongside Peter Everitt smacks of ignorance and tunnel vision.

Last years grand final loss was not a case of the Pill Collectors winning, it was the Animals returning their worst performance of the year. There is no reason to believe that nobody else has improved as much as the Animals IMO, and therefore to tip Club X like that has no basis or justification in fact.

The parochial media doesn’t give the PAFA credit it deserves. Week after week goes by without recognition. Where are the full page features on Party Animals such as David Hille, Luke Ball or Darren Jolly. Surely they represent the best depth in the RFL and have featured many times in the home press (BEAT magazine), but we never see articles on them in the biased press.

Yours sincerely

MtG
