other than wishing Bump Cat had died while we were gone, I'm pretty okay with things. (It STINKS in here...you'd never know I cleaned carpets twice this past week!)
Anyway. The Science Museum was a HUGE hit. The boys fought me about getting up yesterday. I figured, whatever, if they wanted to sleep all day, it was their day! As a result, we didn't leave until 10.
We got to the museum around 2. It is wonderful. We only did the free stuff, and easily filled 3 hours. If we'd attended the free shows and had done everything free, we could have filled 6 or 7! Oh, well, it's something to go back to. Not to mention, we didn't do any of the things that cost money...the whole afternoon was free!
We headed to Magic House a little after 5. Have I mentioned I hate St. Louis, lol! We drove 9 miles going 10 miles an hour. I kid you not. The freeways there suck big time.
Magic House was great, too. We got to do most everything. They have a MAJOR display on the subject of music. The kids could conduct an orchestra, play various instruments, dance and sing, lol! They loved it. The downstairs was a huge display on Louis and Clark...the celebration of their 150th anniversary is over, I think, but the display is still there. They have so much to do. I can't begin to describe it all. It won Family Fun's award for the best children's museum one year...that gives you an idea!
After that closed we went to dinner...9:30 ugh. It was well after 10 before we got to the hotel. Okay, the hotel was fine. The staff was friendly, the room was clean and quiet, the pool was wonderful...but the first impression was UGH. Due to the storm they had 2 1/2 weeks ago the city is still on an electricity allert. Some folks went over a week without power, and things are touchy, so the city has asked businesses to conserve. This hotel has a pool in the lobby. Don't ask me, lol! They also have an arcade and a playground. The result was that when you walk in you're hit with a blast of hot chlorinated air...because the way they are dealing with the city's request is by not running the air conditioner in the lobby or halls. Anyway, it was too late last night to swim.
We got up today and had breakfast...which was very nice. A clean diningroom with real kitchen tables. The boys had waffles...I had a buttermilk donut and a small bowl of cereal. It was very nice (for about half what I paid in Canon at Motel 8!)
Then I loaded the car and they got in to swim. The pool opened at 10 and checkout was at 11. However, when the desk clerk stopped to chat she told me we could stay as long as we wanted...all day even...as long as we had the room empty by 11. What amazed me was that somehow I didn't have to pay taxes on the room. Does that seem odd? I paid $47 on the internet...I prepaid it last month to get a cheaper rate. The iternet even said I'd have taxes and fees. The gal told me, nope!!! Cool! I have to say, for that price to get a clean swimming pool, a play area, and a decent breakfast, we'd definitely stay there again. It was obviously an older hotel and the hall carpets showed some wear and tear. It wasn't 4 stars...but you couldn't beat the price!
After that we had to search for a florist to get Dorothy a rose, lol! We had lunch and headed downtown at about 1:15. It had taken us an hour to go 9 miles coming from that way, so I allowed time. It only took us 20 minutes, lol, so we were way early.
That's better than late, eh? We grabbed souvenirs and went to sit down. We had good seats, but the idiots in front of us had thier kids standing on their chairs. Now, there are signs saying NOT to do this. The security guard told them twice to have the kids sit down. Guess what it took for them to finally sit down? One of the kids fell through the back of the chair not once, but TWICE! And the mother gave ME an ugly look because I'd told the guard about them standing. Idiot. Poor kid paid the price for her being a dummy...
Anyway, it was a good show. The stage was generic...not nearly as nice as the other shows we've seen, but the show was good. It was almost the same as the one Teiguen and I saw last spring here. We lucked out, Murray came down our aisle to get roses, and he posed for a picture with Teiguen! It turned out great. Wish I knew how to upload photos, lol! Captain Feathersword and Jeff also walked right by us. Teiguen was in HEAVEN! Even Liam had a good time!
After the show we went to get the bones. I need to call Animals Best Friend tomorrow to figure out how to get them to them. It was just one big bag...not bad. A security guy was really bitchy to me about it...he acted as if I was trying to pick up the sound guy or something. He worked for the city of St. Louis, not the Wiggles. Why would he think he'd know every little thing? Idiot. The Wiggle's sound guy was very nice. He was surprised we were there...but as I told him, last I knew they didn't get anyone from tonight's show to volunteer to collect the bones, so they asked me to get the ones in the middle of the day. It sounds bad, but I guess if none of the boardies volunteer, the bones get dumped! That's a shame!
Well, I have to leave by 11:30 in the morning to get the kids to Maureen's by noon. I didn't need to drop them off until 12:30, but she has something to do and asked if I could be early.
As Liam said, he's just glad to sleep in his bed again...we've spent most of this summer on the go. Just being home is nice!
