After shampooing carpets today...and doing laundry...I took Teiguen to run errands with me. Here's the completely ridiculous list of what we did:
1. Bought decorations for Liam's birthday party. First I went to Hobby Lobby. It's November there, in case you're curious...or December if you wish. But, not October. Not a single skull or pirate item in the store. Ditto The Dollar Tree. Okay, that's a lie. They had Halloween pot holders. So, we finally went to a discount party supply store and got a big mylar parrot, two scimitars, a bag of pirate coins, and a Pirate's of the Carribean hanging. Not much, but about all they had!
2. Went to the library to turn in our books. Teiguen only got 2 books this year. Liam got one. The program ended last Saturday, and I just didn't have time to get there. Oh, well.
3. Went to the post office. Verna, coupons are on their way. Oh, I had another bit of odd mail yesterday. My aunt's life insurance company wrote to ask if I'd received a refund check for $24...back in early 2003. Well, I'm not the beneficiary. I'd guess the money went to the funeral home. Anyway, I had to mail a response to them and my request for a refund from the school district daycare, plus some bills. A very strange mail day, indeed.
4. Went to Pioneer Ridge Middle school to do my enrollment in the health plan. Got that done. The boys will both be on my plan as of October 1st. I also am rethinking the prepaid legal option. You don't have to keep it a full year. I could get it, get a will done, and drop it. I know that's iffy, but it's an option!
5. Went to WalMart to get Liam's birthday gifts. All I had here was the book and game. I wanted to get him the collectors edition of Clue, a minitrampoline, and an exercise ball. Well, they had the ball. That's it. UGH. So I went to Target. They had Clue (the one in the wooden box that looks like a book) and I found him a pair of winter pjs in the same design as his favorite summer pair. No trampolines. I grabbed a booster pack of Yugi-oh cards while I was there. Then we went to Dicks. They had a mini tramp...a very generic one with legs that come off (does that sound dangerous to anyone else) for $40 and a regular one for $60. Give me a break!!! The full sized trampolines are $120 right now! So, no trampoline. I'll watch sales and Santa can bring it for Christmas! Maybe both of the boys will get one!
6. Go to HyVee to get cookies for school tomorrow and cookie dough and ice cream for Friday. I'm going to let each boy make his own skull and crossbone cookie instead of doing a cake! Liam doesn't like cake, so he won't care. I also grabbed a used dvd of Wallace and Gromit and made pictures of my aunt's party.
When I got home, guess what? I had the receipt for the latter...but not them. When I called the gal there told me the photo girl was on break and would be back at 7. Hello??? No lost and found? I drove over and by then it was almost 7. I checked the carts and it wasn't there. Then I went to the photo place and the gal now tells me they DO have a lost and found and my stuff isn't there. So, I wait in line and start to make another copy of the photos. Before I print them the photo gal shows up...guess what, she found them, and labeled them, but didn't put them in the lost and found. At least I got them back.
So, that explains why it's 8 pm and we're just having dinner, right??? UGH.
Oh, I ran into district folks everywhere today. One teacher I saw told me we added a second grade today. I would bet you anything that tomorrow I'll be packing everything I unpacked...because we added a 5th grade, too!!!!
I'm gonna go eat. Sigh.
The good news, Liam cleaned up the livingroom floor. Hurray!!!
