Liam did have a great time at camp. He learned a lot! I'm going to get him onto a chess team here in town this fall so he can continue to learn and get better! His roomy turned out to be a good kid once the adults were gone. The other boy decided to sleep at an aunt and uncle's, so he was only there during the day. Liam didn't win any awards, but he wants to go again, so it didn't make him upset. That was a very good thing!
I think he also liked having two unsupervised hours each day! It was so hot that they didn't force the kids to go to the pool. Meaning, they had two hours a day to hang out at the college or poke around downtown...on their own...unsupervised. Mind you, I did the same thing when I was a year younger than him and in St. Paul...a huge city. But, that was 35 years ago, lol! I'm glad he got to experience freedom. Of course, he only showered once, and I'm not sure he brushed his teeth, lol! But, he had a great time.
I decided that it would be better to leave hotels to chance. I'm always paranoid about not being able to find a place to stay. Once when I was traveling with my high school on spring break we had that happen. We ended up driving hours in the middle of nowhere in Arizona because all the motels were full!
About Tanner, yep he's 14. I think by the second day he figured out that I'm not like his mom, his dad, or any of his various stepparents. Garnet tried to make him go, but he said he needed to do chores instead.
I'm going to try to get them out here for a month next summer. As a carrot I'll hold out the fact that if they do summer school here they'll earn some money...and learn something, too. I'm not sure they'll want to come here to do summer school, but they might!
Nicole is a sweetie. She is craving adult attention like crazy. If Francie doesn't give her some she's gonna be a wild one when she gets older. It's too bad Francie is so wrapped up in herself!
I think she'd come live with us in a second if her mom would allow it!
As it is, Tanner sleeps on the back porch and she sleeps on an old camping cot all summer long! Garnet doesn't have room for them because she is caring for her mother who is very old and should be in a nursing home. However, she has resources and I'm sure they don't want the entire family fortune to go to one.
Well, I need to go get my hair dry (Yes, I finally showered, at 3 pm, lol!) so I can take Teiguen to get a birthday gift. We have to be in Grain Valley for a birthday party at 5:45! Tomorrow is our first "nothing to do" day since early this month!
Go ahead with the labor thing...you're clear now. Until the 8th, when we head to St. Louis, lol! Jack had better be here long before then...or you need to send in a search party to get him. ROFL!
