We've told the boys with new carpet that NO food or drinks will be allowed in the living room. We spend most of the time in the den anyway, but they do take the occasional thing into the LR. I'd love to enforce a no food or drinks out of the kitchen rule, but then I like to do something besides nag my kids to follow the rules - LOL.

I'm liking Brandie's idea about the remote, but it's my "big" kid that's bad about losing it so I don't think it would fly to well here.
