大約兩年前，香港曾經有過一陣「網吧熱」，大小網吧在城中各區湧現；當時，人人視開網吧為新興行業、新財路，一間接一間地開個不停。
好了，現在又如何呢？眼底下所見，中小型網吧已結業得七七八八，只餘下一些大財團或老字號網吧在苟延殘喘。（至於那些借網吧為名實則是色情場所的，自然另當別論。）
賽後分析：為何網吧可以在台灣和內地大行其道，卻在香港搞不起來？
當然，經營成本高是一大原因。香港的租金和人工近年雖已下調，仍然和兩岸有相當差距；而網吧的收費卻因競爭激烈，後期已大降至每小時十元八塊，實難維皮。
然而，有兩點更值得注意。首先，是家用電腦的普及度。香港的年輕一族，真的有必要去網吧上網嗎？相信他們家中有電腦和上網設備的比率十分之高，分分鐘是亞洲之冠；既然家中可以上網，何必另外花錢去網吧？是故，網吧在香港的真正需求，可能被高估了。
另外，網吧的興盛與Online Game（線上遊戲）的流行絕對息息相關。而線上遊戲在香港的流行程度，居然遠遜於亞洲其他地區。這一點，明天續談。（二之一）
