踏入秋季，友儕間又興起了要搞燒烤會的念頭。尤其當大家知道小弟剛搬進了頂樓連天台的新居時，第一反應例必是：「咁咪可以燒嘢食囉？」
「燒嘢食」者，在戶外舉行的燒烤派對也，或稱「野火會」、「巴別橋」（BBQ）。香港人好像特別喜愛這種活動，郊野公園的燒烤爐在假日時必定爆滿。就算在三更半夜，燒烤場地一樣會火光熊熊、人氣鼎沸；我在某報館任職時，就時有「宵夜BBQ」活動，記者編輯一同在午夜收工後才出發往西貢開爐，燒到三四點方休。
除了郊野公園、海灘的燒烤場外，天台亦是燒烤熱點。住村屋的朋友，無論如何也逃不掉要招呼親友來燒烤的命運──就算沒有天台，有露台也行！至於大廈天台嘛，前陣子我在睇樓時視察天台環境，發現每家每戶的天台都一定有個燒烤爐，絕無例外！但釵h已荒廢多時，明顯都是新入伙時的「三分鐘熱度」，且都是客人的熱情而非屋主的熱衷。
按道理，「燒嘢食」乃烹飪中最低檔次的，為何識飲識食的港人咁鍾意？或部A因燒烤是遠古人類祖先的第一口美食，印象深刻，於是埋藏在我們的DNA中，不時發作成燒烤癮囉！
