I assume that your daughter uses sign language to communicate. I taught my deaf pitbull by introducing a sign like sit when he performs correctly give treat. You may need to help show the puppy what you want to begin. Each time the puppy sees the signs it will become familiar. I work with deaf individuals and sign to my deaf all the time, I guess out of habit. smile! but when I want him to do something. I keep it to one or two sign that I excute firmly and make sure facial expression matches. I noticed recently with my dog if I don't sign it firm he seems to think it is an option not a command
