I know...but Lifetime television is supposed to be picking it up...plus the ratings are going up due to the Otalia story line.

Absolutely LOVE Olivia and Natalia...aka Otalia. It is the best story line on tv right now. Hopefully Guiding Light will find another home soon so this love story can continue. If you have watched go to Otaliafan site on youtube and catch up with the story line. 4/14/09 episode is suppose to be awesome with Olivia finally telling Nat that she is in love with her. Love both actresses especially Crystal Chappell. Also check out the website Big Purple Dream it is a site dedicated to Otalia.

I watched today's episode and was just STUNNED by Crystal Chappells acting.
Speaking of stunned...I can't believe that GL is writing this story so well! I mean, they're treating these two women the way they would any other soap super couple.
It's amazing to watch.

Hi!
LJ has the passion perfect group and there is a lot of Otalia fic.
There's an amazing LJ writer named, "Chilly Flame," who wrote an amazing love scene between the characters...
http://chilly-flame.livejournal.com/
You might have to friend her...while you're there check out her, "The Devil Wears Prada," fanfic. DWP has generated a crap load of amazing fics btw.
Incandescent Fire is a message board that has a lot of Otalia Fic..you have to join.

I've read interviews where CC has talked about how the EP and the writers have meticulously worked on this storyline, taking the time to do it right. It seems VERY important to them.(And luckily for them, they seem to have struck gold with it).
The performances by both actresses had me on the edge of my seat this past week. CC rocked the cemetary scene. Such raw emotion. But JL shined in the gazebo scene, as well. I love how this show is handling the storyline one baby step at a time. And can't forget: SHOUTOUT to Doris, who had me LMAO in the wedding scenes.

Have to say I'm not a soap fan but i do love this storyline. I'm grateful for the folks who put the Otalia clips on youtube. A lot of work done by fans that allows me and many others to see the show... and also I don't have to watch ALL the show.. just Otalia! :-)
CC seems to be a laugh riot too!

Re: Guiding Light -- FLat85, 12:27:55 05/19/09 Tue [1]
In a post Gina said she was disappointed by how AMC handled the Bianca/Reese storyline. I think folks forget that ABC is owned by Disney, which may sometimes impact the shows. I admit to being a great fan of Gina's work, yet it's not clear (at least for me) if Gina would do Natalia/Olivia (Otalia) justice since she does not appear to be a fan of the couple or the show. We fans may be surprised and I for one have hope for this story since GL is owned by P&G and not the network. In addition, ATWT which is also owned by P&G has a gay couple Luke/Noah who remain close to, if not front burner.

Re: Guiding Light -- SupesFan, 09:55:09 05/25/09 Mon [1]
As usual, I have not been around for quite some time. One time is the Army training, another Iraq, and now, Army training again. This time though, we have Sundays - and sometimes Saturdays - offs, in addition to some internet; as a result, I have somewhat limited access to some sites.
With that said, since I have not watched GL ever, where should I start to pick up this story line? and no, I do not want to watch 10 years worth of soaps.
Thanks

Re: Guiding Light -- kats, 18:38:31 05/27/09 Wed [1]
You'll need to go to Youtube.
the Otalia channel is a good starting point. she has back storied clips that go way back. Start watching about spring of last year. Watch the relationship develop from women who hated one another and changed into these women who would die for the other.
With otalia just go to the first clip she uploaded and work your way forward.

Did anyone happen to catch the Blake/Olivia scene in the store?? Blake had me rolling, with her suggestive selling! This storyline really is being handled very well!
Also, has anyone heard about the future network for GL, Lifetime has been bounced around, yet nothing appears to be confirmed, or at least I haven't heard??

Re: Guiding Light -- Kats, 18:22:24 06/14/09 Sun [1]
that scene was amazing. Pure amazement that an american show went there.
In regards to the fate of GL...sadly, it appears as if it's really ending. To put the nails in the coffin it's been announced that Crystal Chappell (Olivia) has recently signed with Days of Our Lives reprising her role of Dr. Carly Manning.
Many tears are being shed...but on the up side, word through the grap vine is the writers have decided to 'go there' with Otalia...like...ALL THE WAY...MORE THAN ONCE.
Now that Jessica Leccia has had her baby...when she comes back...all bets are off.

yea but they are surely going in the opposite direction with the pregnancy bullshit. Natalia had sex with frank ummm 6 months ago? give me a break. there are so many other ways for her to go on maternity leave...put her charactor in acoma for crying out loud!! just sayin.....

OMG..I'm so with you Belinda. I stopped watching about three weeks ago when it was spoiled that Nat was pregnant.
I can't remember ever being this devastated by a SL.
I'm in mourning for what easily could have been one of the loveliest love stories ever.

Re: Guiding Light -- FLat85, 18:30:42 07/05/09 Sun [1]
Hey, it may be wishful thinking on my part, but I'm hoping for the mix-up with results. I viewed that episode a few times and all I keep seeing is several unlabeled blood tubes, while Nat was having her test. LOL
Oh well, only time will tell this story!! It also, doesn't mean the end to Otalia, Nat could choose to stay with Liv. Just keeping an open mind, or at least trying!! LOL
Actually, the coma scenario suggested, is hilarious!! LOL

Sorry! LOL. My mind is CLOSED!
To me this is just another example of the destruction of a lesbian relationship. They made Nat pregnant to avoid showing intimacy. It sucks.
I would have enjoyed the coma though...

Re: Guiding Light -- Chase (Happy), 18:17:57 07/07/09 Tue [1]
This is classic soap style writing. Crystal Chappell did a podcast interview not long ago with someone from the Big Purple Dreams site, and during that interview she made a statement about her character Olivia and Natalie growing old together and who knows maybe having a kid. She foreshadowed a lot in that interview that has come to pass, and I think if Natalia is really pregnant, then she will still end up with Olivia. If is a mix up with the test results because Natalia is now a diabetic which can sometimes cause false positives on pregnancy tests then it was a clever way to mess with our heads and get Jessica out for her short Maternity leave! Also the fact that she agreed to do a short Maternity leave means that the story line isn't dead, and that we will get more Otalia love right up and until the end in September! Have faith people, it'll be worth it! Just my 2cents!

yea i think they will end up together pregnant or not but i wish they could just skip the angst and just let us enjoy the last month or so....If the show wasnt being canceled the story line would have gone along the lines of every other couple and get split up eventually. Which would be depressing as well.

Re: Guiding Light -- Jools, 00:26:57 07/09/09 Thu [1]
I think Otalia will finish on a happy note.
The only way that Otalia could end badly is either due to the bitterness of the writers (:D) or if GL is taken on by another channel and given longer to live.
CC is now contracted to work on Days of Our Lives when GL finishes. So if GL carries on then either JL also leaves and Otalia ride off into the sunset together. Or JL stays and so basically they will have to write out Olivia and that will be the end of Otalia.
Hope that makes sense?

Re: Guiding Light -- Chase (Happy), 17:23:47 07/09/09 Thu [1]
Hi there,
You are correct Rafe is a diabetic. However, the rumour floating around is that the pregnancy is a red herring. Natalia isn't really prego, but a diabetic instead.
Sometimes Diabetes can throw false negatives on home pregnancy tests, and I have heard that it can throw false positives too.
I know, I know, she got a blood test, but did ya notice the vial of blood they used was like twice as big as other viles, the tech jostled it around quite a bit, and it received no label to indicate who's blood it was.
Either way, I think it will all work out, and in the end we still have fanfiction LOL!

Re: Guiding Light -- Gina, 10:49:23 11/20/09 Fri [1]
Okay, I finally gave in and watched the whole Otalia thing from beginning to end. I will admit, it was a hell of a story, passionate, sensual and loving. Yes, I realize there was a decided lack of concrete physicality in it, but you know, the story didn't actually require all that much and without it, it was still an extremely good story. If I ever do write any fanfic regarding it, it will be from the scene where Olivia moves back into the farmhouse with Natalia. That's where I think they did the deed for the first time. It was also, in my opinion, the culmunation of the story, the celebration of their love and the acknowledgment that they were finally together. Everything after those scenes was merely an epilogue.

Gina, I am so happy you finally broke down and watched the Otalia story. It was an amazing love story between two women and I cannot wait until you continue it. Also so glad to see you on BPD as well. Your being there will make the Venice pbp's much more interesting.
