Author: Liz Griffin (Sneaking in the back door...)
Subject: Wow - where has the time gone?

Hi, everyone -

Well, here I am again. Three moves and a continent-width from where I was last time I wrote...

I'm sorry I've been so silent. I needed the time to do some things in my life that I had been putting off for a very long time because of family commitments. I lost my grandmother (who lived with me) to Alzheimer's a few years ago - and after 7 years of intense working/caregiving, it was time for me to really take stock. So, I took time off. I did what I needed. And then promptly took a new job, moved to the opposite coast, and eased slowly back into something resembling a real life.

So - I'm still around. And still Janeway obsessed, lol.

For a number of reasons, I made a conscious decision to stop writing a few years ago. It's a long, long story, mostly having to do with an overdeveloped sense of duty and self-sacrifice, and partly to do with not having enough energy to deal with what was going on in my house and write, too. But the upshot is, I'm now in a place in my life where I really, truly miss writing.

I have more ideas kicking around in my head (actually, they never left) - A whole series of backstories on Janeway; a series continuing forward from the beginning of Endgame where things turned out very differently; a stand-alone with Janeway and a crew member I've not yet seen her paired with (and believe me, I've looked); a non-slashfic (well, maybe a little) dealing with the Voyager crew's return and adjustment and Janeway's role in all that; some ideas on things that happened with the Equinox crew. Some dark, some light, some romantic, and some just plain silly.

So - apart from saying "hi" and letting people know what I've been up to, I actually came in to ask if anyone is still interested in Janeway fic now that Voyager has been off the air for nearly 10 years, and they've even killed off Janeway in the novels. I'm not at all sure it would be J/T - but I miss writing Kathryn. I'd write for my own interest, of course - but if anyone would like to drop me a line and talk Janeway fic, I'd be more than happy to talk! Maybe give me a kick in the pants!

Until later...

Liz

OH! - PS - Would anyone happen to have copies of my old stories - specifically Part 6 of Home is Where the Heart Is? I've lost it completely, darn it.

I'm always interested in well-written Janeway fiction. It's one of the many reasons why I always come back to Dartt's site.

Where is your Janeway fiction hosted these days? I tracked down an old angelfire link, but it doesn't work. I'd love to re-read your older stories.

Thanks,

Daemon

They're not actually hosted at the moment, though you can go to www.archive.org and find cached copies. Search for http://www.angelfire.com/in/captainjaneway/ - the final "/" is important, you cant get there otherwise. I downloaded all my stories from there onto my hard drive, finally.

I'm planning to put my stories up on the web again sometime between now and Sunday. I was finally able to find Part 6 of Home Is Where the Heart Is (yay!), so that'll be complete as well.

Once that's done, I'll start writing again. I don't know which story I want to get into pixels first (they're all kind of running around in my head right now). We'll see who wins, I suppose. Janeway is, of course, the focus of all of them. :)

Would love to see more of your work Liz - alwasy appreciate great writing talent, especially if it is about Voyager. I have to admit I am a bit partial to J/T but enjoy them all.

Extremely partial to J/7(98%) the one non J/7 series I read is the other(2%) LOL. Difficult to think J/T after the STV episode where B'Elanna comes out of her coma/dream and shouts mother and throws her arms around Janeway, though the dream was about B'Elanna's mother, my view was B'Elanna seeking a mother's comfort. Those whose ability leads them to write J/T or non J/7, must do good work based reader support, so happy sharing!!

OMG!! Liz, your stories were the first I found to feed my Janeway obsession way back...well, we all know how long it's been. They were also the first fanfic I had ever read. As far as I'm concerned, you and Gina are the only ones who have ever truly captured Janeway. Other than a writer called m.c moose. Those stories were not J/f but terrific backstories anyway.

I'm rambling...but I'm so thrilled to learn you have recaptured your motivation to write Janeway. I can't wait!

Ms. Griffin,
It is excellent to see you on the web again. Ironically it was your fiction that got me into the idea of Trek slash fiction in the first place, and let me to the JB Series. Can't wait to see what you bring again to the table.

Wow! You would not believe this but I was just thinking of your fic the other day..too weird. I remembered that..uhm, I don't know how long it's been..but I posted on this board and asked if anyone remembered your work and where I could get it. Someone was kind enough to send me copies. "Emergent Properties" is one of my faves. So cool to see you around again! Oh, and to answer your question (you can probably guess the answer) YES I would like to see more stories from you!

Thanks, everyone, for responding. I'm working on the sequel to "Emergent Properties" - the working title is "Fundamental Forces". It'll be a while, since I have to catch writing time around my time-consuming job, but I am writing. And happy so far with how it's going.

Thanks again for everyone's kind words. They really do mean a great deal.

Best to all,

Liz
