Subject: Sad News about a JA fan


The very first person that I met in-person from the internet was a Julie Andrews fan named Judy.

We had met via the JA list (and by competing on the same JA items on ebay) way back in 1998. She came to Chicago for a JA appearance and I met her at the airport. I was scared stiff. I couldn't believe I was meeting a stranger at an airport that I had met on the internet. Quite brave of me.

Judy was a funny and very lively woman (about 12 years older than me.)She laughed at my silly bon mots. Though the time she was drinking a Pepsi and it squirted up her nose when I said something was a bit painful for her. Now I try not to be TOO funny while others are eating and drinking.

Over the years our correspondence had dwindled but I did see her and a couple other Julie fans in Nov. 2005 in Chicago. Judy was recovering from a stroke that she suffered in 2003.

Sadly, I learned today that Judy died sometime Monday April 2.
