I've had similar problems in the past and not just with NFL Fans. Spyware was the culprit, slowing crap waaaaaay down so it would time out. I've had problems with some sites more than others, depending on what kind of junk was running in the background.

There are free downloads for spyware/adware detection and removal. I use Ad-aware and am really happy with it. It even picked up on one of those browser hi-jacker dealies and vaporized it.
