Subject: Sam story

Sam came home from school with his progress report, and I was going through it with him. There was a section on conduct in which each kid gets "always" "sometimes" or "rarely" for a variety of categories. He got an "always" for the category "participates appropriately in class." Sam asked what the meant and I told him that it means that you speak or do things at the right time and you don't disrupt the class. At that he said, "My friend Aidan probably only got a "sometimes" on that one.

Why, I asked.

"Well because once he put staples in his pants."
