Which is pretty good around here in a rather heavily Democratic area. More specifically...

We've had Steve in hiding at my place for the last month, so he's safe from Mexicans.

KOAM TV the local Fox/CBS (odd bedfellows there, eh?) covered the Debate and broadcast the illegal DUI diversion information on the 10:00 news. We were high fiving each other watching the bad guy's eyes go back and forth like one of those vintage 1970s "Tricky Dicky" watches.

However, the local newspapers gave the opponent a free ride and didn't report the information. Against my better judgment we made Steve available for their editorial review board and answered questions for the local press.

The local reporter promised us that she would run his answers unedited provided the length was reasonable. I guess 2 short paragraphs was too long for her taste coming from Steve, but not from the other guy...

Wednesday they endorsed the opponent -- the gist of their argument being "he hasn't been in office long enough to be held accountable for his record, but his experience counts". They also endorsed a woman with no governmental experience over a legistator who's been in Topeka for 25 years in the same endorsement article.

Despite those facts I'm not overly concerned. In the last week it seems we've been contacted by every nut case in the county, so I'm taking that as a good sign that we at least look like contenders.

If any of you guy's decide to run for office let me know... I'll be glad to share my mistakes with you so you can avoid some of them.
