the answer is yes and no (would you expect any different answer from a public relations guy?). We definitely are not getting a new pet any time soon. The last one, while much appreciated by everyone, had a few drawbacks. Pissing on new rugs and curtains was one of them. Given that we are still in a relatively new place and making changes, it'll be nice not to have to worry about any new piece of furniture or floor covering being whizzed on or clawed to bits. Definitely not getting a dog. I prefer dogs to cats generally, but New York City is not an ideal place to raise one, if you ask me. And the kids are young enough that having a pet is not the type of thing they constantly lobby for. So...I figure that once we are more settled and the kids start clamoring for one, we'll get another pet - 50/50 whether it's a cat or dog.

Come to think of it, though. I could see a caged animal - gerbile, fish or hamster, etc. in our future. Those were pretty much out of the question with the cat around.
