Small point of fact - Butch is Randy's boy, their great relationship is a large part of the impetus for Carmen's adios. Carmen and Al were very tight and when he passed, short-sighted Carmen had failed to (or couldn't) develop a similar rapport with Randy. Butch and Randy have always been tight and from all accounts, Randy thinks the world of Butch. That he's got no one to rein him in any longer is by design, not oversight or lack of options. If Butch doesn't produce this year (a big winning season), I look for Randy to insert a GM into the system. Right now, the new business dude (Collins) and Davis report directly to Randy. If Butch can't produce after being given everything he wants, I look for him to leave with a new coach and GM added. He's really put himself under a microscope now, hiding in plain sight. He doesn't have Carmen to point the finger at when things go wrong and vice versa. The plot thickens.....

Also, it was the lazy overpaid vets who griped and complained about having to actually work for their money and they're all gone....or nearly are. It was more than complaining about the voluntary program, they complained about every restriction placed on them.

Did I mention how absolutely thrilled I am that Carmen is history??!!
