here's (what I consider) a funny story. Mrs. Baloney was so happy about another idea she had learned from a recent birthday party in which Sam was a guest. The mom had laid out a large roll of paper with a generic happy birthday greeting and then had the kids draw or write whatever they wished in honor of the occasion. So, Sam was in for a birthday mural of his very own that could be put on his bedroom wall. You know, lots of cute hearts and smiley faces and stickmen - the types of things you would expect from a collection of children who can't yet write.

Well, there was a wild card in the crowd -- a seven-year-old had wormed his way into the group by virtue of having a younger brother at the shindig. Seven-year-old boys, you see, have mastered the fine art of word writing and have the collective wisdom of two-years of formal schooling with which to pen poignant prose.

Anyhoo. The party breaks up, the kids go home and Mrs. Baloney and I stop to admire the work of these fine children. Oh sure, there are some cute little scribbles throughout, but one really can't move past the big, block letters about dead center on the mural that spelled out FART, POOP, PEE and BUTT.

PS: Mrs. Baloney is quite the trooper. We hosted the party and then she dashed off with Sam to Coney Island to continue their now two-year tradition of riding the Wonder Wheel on his birthday. She then came home; packed and left for the airport to fly to Seoul, South Korea.
