Subject: Long update from me.

I haven't posted in forever and have been really to busy to even lurk, which is not like me at all! I'll start a new board soon. Sorry this one has been so slow.

Thanks for the support with the passing of my friend. Her funeral was a week ago and although very emotional was also the neatest one I've been to. Laura's favorite color was purple and in her obit she requested that in lieu of flowers to please bring purple balloons to release at the gravesite. The chapel was filled with them! All shades. All of her family including her DH wore purple. Her sweet Dh even had a section of his hair purple and so did Laura in her casket. Her little boys had purple shirts and ties with their suits. It almost felt like a wedding reception, but I know Laura was pleased. My name was mentioned in 2 of the talks as we used to sing in church together. I lost it then! Her Dh started his talk by sucking helium out of a balloon and saying in a squeaky voice "Laura wanted everybody to laugh here today at least once" He played a tape of Laura talking to a son when he was 4 about Santa and it was heartbreaking. He also played a song that they had written together and Laura sang. Lots of tears, but it is comforting knowing that she is pain free and dancing on 2 legs again. It's also struck me that I don't have my 8 year old boy, and her son now doesn't have his mother. Life is strange sometimes. I'm so grateful for the knowledge of the gospel and that families are forever. This funeral would have been so much worse without having that assurance!

I've had to work 3 days this month and my last one was today. Our schools didn't get out until today! How crazy is that?? I finally got moved into my classroom, but will need to be there early Jan 5 to get things finalized. The teacher left EVERYTHING she owned and I've got to go through it all. I'm nervous and yet excited at the same time.

Out of the blue the other night it hit me so hard that 2nd grade is what grade ~Little Jon~ should be in. And now I'm teaching a whole class full of kids that age. I also had a Jonathan in my class and was dreading even meeting him. However he just moved this week and I won't have to deal with it. I've already checked bdays and although there are some in Jan and march (due date) nothing on either exact date. I'm very grateful for that. I'm going to have to teach on 1/28 and that would be so bad to have to celebrate a bday at school as well. It's going to be hard teaching this group. All those babies made it that year and mine didn't.

On the up side. It is so nice having my OWN classroom again. The last 2 times I've taught I've shared a classroom and then taught on the stage. This is a real room and it's ALL MINE!

Well, I was supposed to be wrapping, but wanted to "chat" here for awhile. I go in withdrawls if I'm gone too long. KWIM.

I'm still trying to get in the Christmas Mood as DH has to work nights this week. I was really stressed about it until DH told me that with overtime and holiday pay he will be making close to $700 a shift!!! I try to keep that in mind whenever I get upset that I'll be alone tomorrow night. We'll do presents when he gets home at 6:30 am and then he will sleep until we do our traditional duck for dinner. We're planning on going to the cemetary tomorrow before he leaves for work.

Well, I've rambled on way too long! Merry Christmas to all! We've all been good girls this year so I hope Santa is very good to us!
