Subject: Calista came down with an earache tonight and I had to call for a blessing.

Everyone was so sick all last weekend, but have been getting better everyday so I thought the worst had passed. But then out of the blue Calista told me her ear hurt about 7:30 tonight. I quickly gave her cold medicine and tylenol and she put herself in bed by 8pm not even waiting for the brownies to come out of the oven. She slept for an hour and then was up crying. Jon is at work so I called our home teacher who was gone. I called my Primary Pres husband who wasn't home either, but called within 10 minutes. He brought another brother over and they gave her such a beautiful blessing. I then gave Calista some antibiotic eardrops and some codeine cough syrup, put the heating pad on low and I think she's finally fallen asleep.

I then promptly fell apart while talking to Jon on the phone. I know how bad earaches are as I broke both my eardrums as a child. My dad worked for the Health Depr and got a prescription for ampicillin to have at home in powder form. The minute we got a twinge, he'd mix up the "pink stuff". Seeing my baby suffer just breaks my heart. I'm also so emotionally exhausted by the events of the week and now am second guessing myself about accepting the job. I don't know how i'll leave my baby for that long. Jon says I just need to decompress in a hot bath and I'm heading there soon.

I'm sorry for rambling. I am so grateful for the priesthood and for living in a place where I can get neighbors to help out. Jon wasn't supposed to be working tonight ( he went to work at 6 am only to be sent home at 10 and told to come back at 6pm. However, they paid him for the whole 12 hours!!) I'm thankful for the comfort of blessings and the faith that I know that the Lord will ease her suffering and allow her the sleep she needs. I'm so thankful for you ladies as well for all your unseen, but so real love and support.

I'm heading to that bath now.
Love, Lynece

Earaches are no fun.

I know how you feel - about the second guessing about everything. You know in your heart what is OK, and honestly, if the Lord doesn't want things to happen a certain way, He most often puts barriers of one kind or another up. This went way too smoothly, Lynece -

I, too, am so grateful for you that you had people you could call right away. Our Bishop only lives a few blocks away, but he is busy almost all of the time. Other than Glenn, I wouldn't even begin to know who to call!

I hope that bath did you a lot of good, too - sending you some big hugs...

Jo
