Subject: Well...I told Julia about Grandma June's death(M)

She did alright with it, kind of.
She didn't cry.

She just got down off my lap and played quietly.

Then she came back later and got up on my lap and told me that she wishes I wouldn't have told her, because she's sad now and she just can't stop thinking of Grandma June. I hugged her and told her that it's ok and perfectly normal to be sad and it's wonderful to think of her. We don't ever want to forget her. I told her if she wants to cry that she should and I will hold her. I told her that Mommy & Daddy are sad and that I cry about it too. Then she looked up with me with those big brown eyes and said that Grandma June wasn't really dead, for we live forever w/Jesus and that we will see her again when we go to see Jesus one day. I said exactly!!!! She is just too smart (& sweet). She said she was worried about Grandpa Dick and Lady (there dog) for they have to live all alone now. She said that she wanted to plant a flower garden with Grandpa Dick, because June loved flowers so much. (I had already planned on something of that sort, but she thought of this herself).

I told Dick yesterday about her intentions to help him plant flowers and he thought that was a great & super sweet idea.

Wow, now I'm crying.

Well, the funeral is tomorrow a.m. I don't plan on taking her out of school for the funeral, but I think I will take her to the luncheon following the services at the gravesite because she will be out of school then and I know they can "behave" well enough for that. (Also, my sister is babysitting & will need to get to work by that time, LOL)

Thanks for listening to me and giving me all the great feedback. I appreciate it.

(repost this if the board archives)

Jeanne
