Subject: Could the other kids be resentful...m.
In reply to: tutter13 (Melissa) 's message, "Ok, I have a couple of things I need help with. . .(m)" on 10:13:28 04/15/03 Tue

Seems to me the other kids must know of Jon's promotions throughout the year, and their picking on him could be their way of telling him they don't want a "smart" little kid one upping them. This could especially be truer of the
teacher's kid. More than likely (I am a teacher and have done this), the teacher talks about how bright your son is at home. Her own son is possibly jealous of this attention, and his way of handling his own feelings is to cut your son down. Yes I would talk to the teacher, but also to your son that everyone has talents in one area or another, and he happens to be very smart. Sometimes people say hurtful things when they don't understand why someone is different from them. Maybe explaining to him and talking to the teacher will stop the situation. Good luck. Tammy.
