Subject: Hi everyone, here's my formal introduction...(m)

Your last board archived so fast I didn't get a chance to post a reply to all of you over there! Ok, my name is Gina, I am 30 years old, married and living in So. California. I was married 6 years ago and I already had a 4 yr old son when we married (he is adopted by his "step" dad now). A year after we were married I had a baby girl, named Sarah Marie who was born in Jan. 98. Two years after that, we had another baby girl, Laura who is a Jan 00 baby! In March 2001, my Sarah Marie was diagnosed with cancer. She had a large tumor that was wrapped around her spine. She had 6 hours of surgery to remove that tumor. Following surgery she received 6 rounds of aggressive chemo and then a stem cell transplant. My little girl was bald and very, very sick. At the end of Oct 01 she seemed to get even sicker. She went deaf and her legs were paralyzed. After discovering that her cancer was back, we decided to take her home. We knew that we only had a slim chance of beating her cancer since it was so aggessive (Rhabdoid tumor) but we had given it our best shot anyways. We prayed that God would not let her suffer anymore and that He would take her home. 24 hours after we brought her home, she passed away in her bedroom (Nov 9, 2001) with all of her family surrounding and holding her. I am grateful to have a wonderful husband and 2 great kids still with me. I will forever have a hole in my heart for my spunky little Sarah who was not boring a day in her life! We had 8 months of time to take her places and make memories with her after the time of her diagnosis. I am grateful for that too. I am currently homeschooling my 10 yr old, taking care of a 3 yr old and trying to lose the weight I gained pigging out from depression. I have lost 11 lbs in 3 weeks and plan to lose 40 more. Ok, that's me in a nutshell. I have lurked on this board for a long time, specifically following Alex's story. Hope to stay around for a long time. Take Care, Love, Gina
