I don't know what you are using, but most hand lotions will dry out the skin even more.

My DH has some bad dry skin as a result of diabetes. The absolute best thing he has ever used for it is emu oil, but beware, it's greasy. But it does work wonders.

Also, I had some bad dry skin a couple months ago. It was like rash and it hurt to rub against. My doctor said to use hydracortisone. It's over the counter, but the steroids in it will help heal the skin... and it worked great. After all the different things I tried on it, it was the hydracortisone that worked.
