Usually the need for taking an antidepressant should be high enough that if you don't take it you are at greater risk for harm than if you didn't take something. It really should be a need and not a want.

Antidepressants are not happy pills. The can't solve problems you have in your life but they can help you if you have a chemical imbalance in your seretonin levels.

So if you think your depression is situational seek therapy or make changes to your life that will improve your situation and bring more happiness and personal satisfaction to your life. If you think your problem is hormonal or chemical then the antidepressants may be the route for you.

With your just having had a baby, having DH away, and having a large family to take care of alone it's no wonder you aren't feeling great.

I'd definately talk to my Dr. about all this and determine what form of help would be best for you and of course your daughter.

Diane
