The darkness would take him, the wolf would run. A wild spirit, never tamed nor possible to be controlled, made him the way he was; a fighter and a very intelligent and well-educated wolf. The intentions of past acquaintances had driven him away from his homeland, and into this timber labyrinth on the outskirts of an unknown territory.
It was their own belligerent nature that had caused the death of his two sisters and their only chance of survival would have been through Sahdow, the only capable heir at the time since his father was killed in battle. They had always been incompetently asinine, and it seemed to him they deserved their fate… But these thoughts were only temporary. He dared not dwell on heis past too long, lest his aggressive side be elicited. He had other things on his mind.
Ardent forest green oculars blazed with slowly appearing tentativeness. A low rumble escaped his maw, rattling his vocal cords as ebony labra drew back to divulge lethal rotenone canines and incisors. Hackles bristled along his nape. Sinewy compounds shifted in a pelagic fashion beneath his rippling gray pelt. His coat was marked with the softest of gray, touched and blended with hints of white and light brown.
Black nose twitched keenly as his ears flexed forth across his narrow crania, maintaining a position that suggested rapt attention. Deep pools glanced blandly about as auditory domes tapered to his head and he relaxed his vigil, shaking his decently body. An inscrutable glow radiated from brightly shining irides as the wolf descended to his haunches, slender caudal constricting about his posterior. Burly shoulders were hunched forward, muzzle thrust against the wind, senses attuned to his surroundings. Gentle rays of light cascaded from small chasms in the canopy above. Orbs of illumination locked aimlessly onto the foliage covering the forest floor. The male lowered to his stomach, resting hid head atop his forepaws and listening in silence to the sounds of the forest around him.
The wind brushed against his back, and carefully changed its course. The cool breeze touched his face. Concealing lids closed in bliss as se inhaled deeply. He lay quietly, though did not sleep. When the eastern horizon was struck with rubescence, and the sky was beginning to darken, the melodious songs of the birds had left the air. The treetops were quiet in the last few minutes of matinal light before the night roamers would wake and arise to go about their lives in the darkness. The sweet scents of wildflowers were directed toward the wolf f in a final gust before he rose swiftly to his paws and out of his sleepless daze. The nocturne beauty was completed only by the rising of the moon, which had been inspiration to compel every night-loving creature to arise if only to be lost in thought while staring admiringly upon the magnificent sphere. It’s pale silvery light danced across the forest, illuminating the still shadows and adding a touch of consonance to the atmosphere. None could be greater than the lunar disc. It’s glorious corona emitted an enchanting luminescence and was the guide and comfort of any that belonged to the nocturnal ways.
Shadow Walker gazed upon the vicinity warmly. These lands… So peaceful, it seemed. He was content with what could now be considered his new home. His eyes glittered with an auric sparkle. The moonlight fell across his broad back in fluctuating waves. He trotted briskly forward. Paws played across the terra in deft swipes, supported on lissome pistons as he slipped with surreptitiousness and ease through the night. Coriaceous pads graced the soil gingerly with each deliberate stride, caudal brushing against his heels.
The alpha emitted a welcoming howl, calling for any and all loners, and instantly she lunged forward into a brisk trot. Increasing his speed, he felt a sudden rush of adrenaline, and the sensation of ecstasy as the wind whipped his fur, nipping playfully at any exposed flesh. His muzzle thrust forward, paws hit the ground with a rhythmic thud of impact. His frame moved at an outstanding speed, the world brought into an incipient blur of color around him. Limber legs stretched to full extent, eager for the thrill that was brought with a midnight run, something he hadn’t experienced in a long while. Atramentous lips parted, the ivory peaks of sharp canines clearly visible. Onyx chelas carved small scars in the topsoil. Carnation hued tongue lolled out of his open maw, irides simply a shimmering array of ebullient light. He took pride in his new packlands, and could not await new memberships!
