Subject: Xterra Recall to be announced in a few days.

I don't think this has been announced yet, but there is a recall notice about to be sent out to a lot of Nissan Truck owners. The Xterras affected are 2011-2012 only.

(Nissan expects to send out notice of the recall on or before January 19, 2012.)

Some of those vehicles may experience "severe oil leaks, which could ultimately result in a crash". I hate when that happens. Crashing your Xterra can ruin your whole day.

Other models affected by the recall:

* 2012 Nissan Frontier
* 2012 Nissan NV
* 2011-2012 Nissan Pathfinder
* 2011 Infiniti FX
* 2012 Infiniti M

The details....

"The bolts that connect the engine oil cooler and the engine oil filter to the engine in these vehicles may have been manufactured to below specification strength." In a worst-case scenario, one of those bolts could break and cause a serious oil leak. If the leak were severe enough, oil pressure in the vehicle could plummet and force the engine to seize, which could cause an accident."

Not a bad idea to call your dealer if you have one of these, and see if your VIN is on the list.
