For so many reasons. File it under "Nissan Hair-brained Schemes" and call it a day. Over the years I've seen so many silly ideas that were never actually brought to market, and this strikes me as one of them. (Remember a Frontier with a roof that was supposed to peal away like a can of sardines? That never happened either.)

There certainly WERE some bad ideas that made it to production, more or less. Like the 1993 "Nissan NX". It bombed and was out of production before the first year run was finished. It sucked.

Or the circa 1994 Nissan 240SX convertible.

The conversion wasn't even done by Nissan. It was aftermarket but "officially sanctioned". They were terrible. Just awful. Rattled, did very badly in the crash test, and nobody bought them.

And this crazy unit you are talking about- Well, do you really think if you rolled that thing over that anyone would live? C'mon. It's a deathtrap. But at least it's ugly.

And I'll believe it when I see it. Hopefully they know better. But hey, the Cube is ugly and it has a wacky carpet glued to the dash- and it is a hit. So what do I know? :-)
