Welp, this is something you need to take care of right away- before the lights you see are blue ones in the rear view mirror.

Sounds like the key is this, "after the X was in the shop". You don't tell us what it was in the shop for? If it was an oil change, there prolly is no correlation. But if they were fooling around anywhere near the dashboard, then you can assume there is.

Also, is this a newer X that you took to a dealer? (You just said "shop" which could be anything.) If it's just a local garage, and you think they messed it up- a trip to a dealership might be in order here.
