Subject: 2001 nissan xterra sporadic electrical problem

I have a 2001 xterra that does the EXACT same thing. All gauges go out during very hot weather after vehicle has been sitting for a few hours or when driving with lights on. First all digital gauges lose readout, then the gauges with handles drop to one side. No readout at all. If I keep driving then the transmission feels like it is skipping. I usually can pull over and turn off the vehicle and wait around 5 minutes and crank back up and everything resets. Very strange.
