Subject: "I imagine the people driving Xterras never have mundane grocery shopping on their activity lists. "

The Xterra was slightly changed for this model year, prompting this reviewer from Detroit to drive one and tell of his experience a couple of weeks ago.

There's a lot of interesting points he makes, and I am sure everyone here will take exception to some of them. Because he doesn't like the Xterra- yet makes no bones about why. He doesn't like it because he thinks he's too old for one.

" it never connected with me. It doesn't fit my lifestyle of work on Monday, work on Tuesday, sleep in on Saturday and get ready for work on Sunday", he says.

Then there's this gem, "It may have the off-road prowess of a wildebeest, but I've never felt the need to drive out to see a wildebeest. If I want wildebeest, I'll ask the waiter."

Seems to me this guy needs to get a pair of hiking boots and get some fresh air. (Betcha he gives himself an ulcer and doesn't live too long.)

Doesn't sound to me like this guy would be a lot of fun to be stuck in an elevator with.

And I think he misses something. He says,....

"Additionally, the high ride limits the vehicle's speed. You can hit 80 mph pretty easily but then it starts to feel light on the road and the speed-sensitive, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering loosens up. In my 20s, I may have felt indestructible, so that kind of driving wouldn't bother me. Today, I know better, so I slowed down."

Well, interestingly, I think one of the characteristics of people who like Xterras is that we like to drive slow. I always remember the comment I read here, (I think it was from Schlud), after someone asked about how to to out the regulator so you can drive over 85. They replied, "You won't get much help with that here. See, we like to drive slow. Real slow. Preferably in mud."

So I think this reviewer just doesn't get it. He assumes Xterra drivers are kids who like to drive fast.

What do you think?

And what do you all think about the new option of roof lights? They look kinda funny to me, but I can't put my finger on why. (Maybe I'm too old for them. :-)
