I am all to familiar with this problem. My wife's car a 1991 Mazda Miata used to do this and now my 2000 Xterra just started to do this. While at idle in and in gear your car vibrates then smoothes out then vibrates. You can accually watch the RPMs dip for a second when it vibrates. On my wife's car our mecahnic told us that the injectors/ valves were dirty and to use Techron or AMSOIL's PI. After a few weeks of this and changing the plugs and plug wires the problem was fixed. As for my Xterra like I said before this just started to happen a week ago and I haven't had the time to inspect the wires of the plugs but both are 1 year old. I hope this helps you track down your problem
