"Rackus Envy" ...I'm still smilin over that... You know, it's hard to badmouth an X (even the new ones), but I've always had this 'Tonka toy feeling' when looking at that rack & fairing... And when I stashed my rack in the attic next to my black plastic wind faring I seriously wondered what (if anything) would cause me to put it back on? I envisioned one day attempting to sell it (many years from now) just to have some joker laugh and say, "I remember those!"

Seriously, even the wife's got used to it... though she won't admit it, and the kids were over it long before that. And honestly, I looked at it again yesterday and thought to myself - good move. But then I didn't buy it for looks... I first drove one after convincing my sister that the Ford Escape was the crappiest piece of junk I'd ever looked over. We took an X out for a drive (she let me) and I was as impressed as hell! Beefy, high, solid ... I was basically sold then an there. But guess what -- she thought it was too 'manly!' Problem was, me and mine weren't quite ready to ditch our old Toyota van... And, I couldn't stand that... Atomic Orange(?) color!

But when we were finally ready - and got past our fixation with a 'Truck' - the X was a natural! Actually, I love it! And I'm proud of it, and if I felt removing its gear made it look like crap - I'd put it back! But it's a kick-ass unit that's eaten up our gravel road like little else, while given the kids an excellent view of the world - and I honestly wouldn't trade it for anything ... well... anything we could afford.

...I'll keep those Car Talk guys in mind... though they'd eat me alive - while laughing their guts out - but radio wouldn't get any better!
