FOX News Admits Continued Fighting At Saddam International
US Still Has Only Partial Control

Saddam International --

FOX News, the semi-official government television station in the United States, today admitted that Iraqi Republican Guard forces were continuing to battle US troops for control of Saddam International Airport, after yesterday denying reports of the battle, and later stating that the battle
involved "twelve" Iraqi soldiers.

Today FOX reported that the US had killed 150 or the 12 soldiers who had attacked them, and left many others wounded.

It also reported that the battle lasted seven hours, and occurred during the time that FOX News was officially denying any Iraqi presence at the airport, and was running pre-recorded tape showing US forces on one of the airport's two landing strips. The tape was immediately suspect as
evidence since it was nighttime in Baghdad and the tape was clearly shot during the day.

The US last night was forced to launch a raid to rescue nearly 200 commandos who were ambushed after failing to gain surprise in an attack on Iraqi ministry buildings. 10 US troops were killed, 20 injured and as many as 10 captured out of the initial force of 200, and the US lost several tanks and vehicles as they penetrated into the city to effect a rescue. US journalists say several of the troops in the fighting that occurred near the Information Ministry building, but, underscoring the failure of US troops to achieve their goal of capturing Iraqi officials, the Iraqi Information Minister broadcast live on al-Jazeera approximately a block away from the scene of the fighting.
