] Date Posted: 13:45:40 04/08/03 Tue (I cribbed this from another of my e-mails on another board, maybe it can start the ball rolling on some discussion) Is there anybody whose really excited about any of the copious horror, scifi and fantasy films coming out? Even though I've been burned by many a sucky film, I still have a high level of optimism about the various genre efforts coming out (some might say an outright stoopid level of optimism). Here's a rundown to official sites of some flicks I am waiting for that ya'll may be interested it. 28 Days Later, Danny "Trainspotting" Boyle's new zombie flick (new to the US, anyway). Looks like a gut chomping good time. http://www.28dayslaterthemovie.com/28dayslater/ The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, with Sean Connery heading up a group of Victorian heros like Mr, Hyde, the Invisible Man, and Mina Harker battling a world threatening menace (not GWB). And it's based on a great comic by Alan Moore & Kevin O'Neil. http://www.leagueofextraordinarygentlemen.com/ I'm not the biggest Matrix fan, but they have a site up that offers for free three animated Animatrix shorts worth checking out for the animation skill alone: http://www.intothematrix.com/ I know alot of people here aren't too fond of Stephen Summer's Mummy films, but his 2004 release looks promising. It's Van Helsing, starring Hugh Jackman as the hero versus Drac, Wolfie, and Frankie baby. A throwback to Abbott & Costello meet the Universal Monsters series.... I hope it will be good, anyway. And apparently, it was originaly in development as an Anthony Hopkins sequel to Francis Ford Coppela's Dracula... the site just has some flash animation and a story synopsis now... http://www.vanhelsing.net/ Pirates of the Caribbean, I hope it's going to rock. We don't want the last big budget pirate film to be Cutthroat Island, do we? Now the long trailer is up, the CGI looks a little more lifelike than in other films: http://disney.go.com/disneypictures/pirates/index.html Underworld is a vampires vs. werewolves film that will star Kate Beckinsale and will have mafia overtones. No official site, but I hope this link will take you to the IMDB site wher you can see stills and the poster.... http://us.imdb.com/Title?0320691 And finally Hellboy, Guillermo del Toro's next film based on the Mike Mignola comic character, and starring Ron Pearlman. Here's a link to the official site, but found it hard going to navigate: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/hellboy/index.html [ Next Thread | Previous Thread | Next Message | Previous Message ] |

Date Posted: 19:20:25 04/11/03 Fri Big classic monster fan, so really looking forward to Van Helsing. 28 Days and TLoEG sound good too. I'm not a huge comic/cartoon/anime fan, but a lot of the stuff taken from comics is really good. I liked X-Men, the movie, and loved Witchblade, the television series. PS ~ thanks for trying to pump the board, and the site. :) I'm going to work on link swaps Sunday... altho I have to do my taxes too. All work and no play... [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
