About 3 years ago I got a book from the library about ribbons used on clothing as decoration, and it seems some of the clothing itself was made from ribbons. I believe the name of the book was Scarlet Ribbons. I am a sewer and this technique is very interesting. Now my daughter is doing her student teaching and has a lesson plan to teach about Native Americans in general. She has a tape recording in which a Native American woman from the New England area mentions taking a 'ribbon shirt' to a celebration. I thought the book I had was mostly about Plains indians, but apparently they were/are not the only ones useing this technique. I guess what I am looking for is more information about this technique, how-to, sources for materials, etc. Also, is there more 'in-print' information that anyone knows of? Thanks.
