Wash your feathers in a mild detergent, like one of the really cheap ones at a dollar store. Don't use Dawn or any other "grease/oil cutting" detergent. The goal is to get the dirt, but not the oil, out. After washing your feather(s), smooth and shape them by hand, then let them air dry.
