Past:She was born with 4 brothers and 1 sister. One day her mother left to hunt and she heard a howl,, and then the sound of clashing fangs and the sound of two heavy bodies connecting and a terrible shriek . Her mother never returned. She was the oldest of the bunch, and she had almost quit nursing, so she did not die, but every day, another brother stopped moving and they whimpered and whined no more. She and her sister used to play together, but every day her sister grew steadily weaker. One day the sister stopped twitching and her body became cold. Starlit Night nudged her cold, hard body with her nose, enticing her to play. Her scent still lingered, but it did not carry a happy memory. She looked at her dead, frozen, snow covered bodies of her brothers outside the den enterance, where she had laid them so that they would warm up. She also shoved her sister there, and went back to her little sand clod that she slept on. For five days she waited for her mother to return, but she never did. Her scent dissapeared, and she left the den in search of her. She was hungry and she was dying. She followed her mother's scent which still lingered where she had passed through. Her mother's scent was suddenly overpowering, but with her scent, came a tragic tale of her mother's fight for her life, and her puppies' lives. She found her mother, she too moved no more, her body also frozen and snow covered, and beside her, layed a partially eaten doe, with the scent of another wolf upon it's flesh. She decided that this wolf was the cause of her mother's death, and she memorized the scent. It was a black male, a male her mother had confronted before. To confirm her observations, she sniffed her mother, and she too brought up the scent of the black male wolf. She looked at the doe's tender meat as it lay there unused. She sniffed it and took a bite of it's tender flesh. She found it good, and she came back to it for another week. But when she came back, two weeks later, the black male was there, and he chased her away. She raced back to her now too small den. It was the only safe haven she knew. She lay and whimpered for a while, then she realized what she had to do. She had to seek revenge when she was older and stronger. So she planned it.
Present:Now she lays lonely, hungry and dying in the den which has caved in over the weeks. Her brothers' and sister's bodys lay outside the den, still unmoving. She whimpers and whines, for someone to call 'MOM' and 'DAD' and somewhere to call 'HOME'.
